Wallace the Wondercat’s Home Page
Wallace adopted us (Teri & Stephen) on
April 2, 2005. This is one of the pre-adoption photos that convinced us we
should become his domestic servants for life.
He is so cute when he sleeps I end up taking a
lot of photos of him when he is curled up “cat-napping”.
Wallace can also be mischievous and has a
fondness for crinkly plastics like bubble wrap.
He loves looking out the windows at
the birds, squirrels and passers-by. This second-floor window gives him a good
view of pedestrian traffic on the way to the school nearby.
Often he takes my office chair and I end up
sitting on a stool to work on the computer.
One of our bird feeders is right by
the dining room window and affords him a close-up look at small birds like
sparrows and chickadees. Occasionally he loses it and bats at the glass.
He loves to snuggle in boxes and suitcases. He found
this bag, pulled it out and climbed in it.
As he has become at ease here he has tended to
sleep in very vulnerable positions with paws in the air or curled over his
eyes.
Wallace napping on Stephen, his
daddy. He doesn’t
actually tend to lay on us much and almost never gets up on our laps.
A regal pose befitting his status as
King Wallace I.
Here he is at play. This was a lucky shot since
my digital camera has quite a lag. I cropped and lightened this shot, which was
taken in low light.
Wallace’s rear feet show who’s
boss around here.
April 2, 2006 was the first anniversary of
Wallace’s arrival, which we refer to as his birthday. Here he is enjoying the
festivities.
His present was a little blue catnip
mouse. He is not really into toys, but did bat this one around and has shown
some interest in it. Besides the red cloth “mouse” in the action shot above,
his favorite toys are a small plastic bottle and a felt anti-scuff strip that
fell off one of the stool legs. Wallace is now about five years old.
